• Autologous peritoneal mesothelial cell-laden hydrogel sheet for the prevention of postoperative adhesions
Re-peritonealization has attracted attention for its potential to prevent postoperative abdominal, adhesions and subsequent related complications (pain, bowel obstruction or fistula, infertility). After failure of the injection of free cultured mesothelial cells to prevent adhesions, we explored the effect of an autologous graft on the postoperative re-peritonealization and prevention of adhesions in a rat model. Then, we attempted to build an artificial graft to cover more important defects, as those induced by extensive peritoneal cancer surgery.
